Following my dreams...
In 2016 I became jobless after a reorganisation of the
company I worked for. After a few months it became impossible to pay the mortgage
of my appartment. For a while I was already interested in Tiny House living but
here in The Netherlands it is difficult to legally life in a Tiny House and
above that the costs for building a Tiny House for me were to high. So I looked
to other possiblities.
I found a mobile home and bought it. De freedom of living in
it was great. To be honest I didn’t want to go back to a stone house with
central heating and warm water. This easy, simple life fitted me. Yes, in the winter
it was sometimes quite cold and washing your cloths when you first have to boil
water, takes a lot more time than normal washing but I loved dit. Luckely for
me you have to waite for like 8 years to get a rental home over here in Holland
so that was great. Unfortunately the residential permit was temporarily and so
I had to find another place to live.
For years I had the dream of living in a campervan. Not for
a couple of weeks a year, no permanently. An even more easy life with less
stuff and all the freedom in the world. So this was the time to stop dreaming
and make it a goal. I didn’t have anything to loose, I was becoming homeless
anyway. I found Mollie, my VW T4 busvan in the north of Holland, picked her up
and start making it a real home. And I did, at the end of May this year my dog
Teun and I started our first real adventure. We travelled through France for 5
weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. We explored nature, met great people who
became friends for life and discoverd and learned how to live comfortable in
Mollie. More about living in Mollie in my next blog.
In about a week I leave for Spain and Portugal for a new
Mollies adVANture, I can’t waite 😊.
Do you have a dream? I like to hear what it is, will you let me know?
